TIPS FOR MAKING THE BEST COOKIES

  • Make sure you use softened butter – DON’T melt it! One of the most common errors in cookie making is using butter that is either cold and hard, or using butter that is too warm and melted. If you have time, just leave butter out on the counter for about 1-2 hours before making your cookies. If you are like me and don’t plan your cookie cravings that far in advance, just place the butter in your microwave and soften in 5-second intervals, being very careful to pull it out before it melts.I like to use the defrost setting on my microwave to soften butter- I don’t know the technical reasons behind it, but it seems to soften the butter more evenly and takes a little bit longer so I’m less likely to start melting it!
  • Most cookie recipes require that you mix the dry ingredients separately before adding the wet ingredients. This is an important step!
  • Spend a little extra time when you mix the butter and sugars. Creaming them together for 2-3 minutes will improve the consistency of your cookies.
  • Preheat the oven. This will help your cookies turn out right every time!
  • Useparchment paperor asilicone baking mat. Doing this will make it easier to remove the cookies from your cookie sheet so that you don’t have to scrape them off the pan. They will just slide right off in perfect shape!
  • Make sure not to overbake your cookies. They may not even look done on the tops, but if the bottoms start to brown, I take mine out and they are perfect!

Ingredients in Copycat Crumbl Golden Oreo Cookies

Golden Oreos – You will need 28 Golden Oreo cookies to crush into fine crumbs. Leave the filling in the middle when you crush them up – that’s the good stuff!

Flour – All-purpose flour works best.

Baking powder – This is the leavening agent in the cookies. For best results, make sure the baking powder isn’t old or expired.

Salt – A little bit of salt helps all of the other flavors to pop.

Butter – You will need 1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) of softened butter. For best results, use real butter.

Sugar – You can’t make cookies without sugar! These cookies only require granulated sugar, so you won’t need any brown sugar for these cookies.

Eggs – Three large eggs will bind all of the other ingredients together.

Vanilla extract – Make sure to add a full tablespoon of vanilla! The higher the qulaity of the vanilla, the better.

FROSTING

Butter – You will need another cup (2 sticks) of butter for the frosting. Make sure the butter is softened to room temperature before mixing with the other ingredients.

Cream cheese – Cream cheese makes this frosting absolutely delicious. Make sure the cream cheese is softened before mixing with the other ingredients.

Powdered sugar – Powdered sugar will make the frosting sweet and creamy.

Cream – Just a little bit of cream will thin out the frosting, while keeping it rich.

Vanilla extract – A little bit of vanilla adds the perfect amount of flavor to the frosting. Again, the higher the quality of the vanilla, the better.

TIPS FOR MAKING PERFECT COPYCAT CRUMBL GOLDEN OREO COOKIES

  • The dough is very sticky and it must be chilled overnight to get the correct cookie consistency. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP!
  • To make these even more over the top, you can fold in larger chunks of the cookies into the dough! Or even add some white chocolate chips.
  • Since the cookies have cream cheese frosting, they do need to be refrigerated but they are best eaten at room temperature. Set the cookies out about 20-30 minutes before serving to bring them to room temperature.

Can I make these cookies smaller?

Crumb is known for large cookies, but you can definitely make these smaller! Often, I’ll divide each of the 12 cookie dough balls in half and make 24 smaller cookies. If you make the cookies smaller, the cook time will be reduced, so just keep a close eye on the cookies while baking so that they don’t overcook!
